Props
Bag 1 prop is one of two bags which primary use is to create a more convincing environment and is mainly cosmetic as we are trying to make the characters storyline more convincing. the prop was also in the storyline discovered by Emily in that way we used to convey then sense of fear and change of tempo in our introduction which set up the chase and the ending climax. As it is the heaver of the two bags we gave it to the male stay with the typical male superiority but yet contradicted that with the attitudes of both characters.(WT)
Bag 2 prop is the other lighter bag which we assigned to the female lead as said above to represent the stereotypical gender roles, this bags primary role much like the other was cosmetic and actually had less use as throughout the our introduction it is never taken off, this is also another reason why we gave the bag to Emily as the lighter one would of made the shots easier for her and more practical.(WT)
The water bottle was involved in George's final moments in which it was used in the scene which served the purpose to build suspense, the water bottle was a simple substitute for nothing meaning that rather than him having stand there we felt for it to be more realistic for him to be having a drink. We also filmed a shot in which the water bottle was dropped and spilled everywhere, this being the final shot before cutting to Emily.(WT)
Our final prop of our main story line for our introduction was George's hat, this hat apart from appearing on George's head for all of his scenes came to it most important use in the scene when Emily finds the remains of Georges camping gear. the hat is supposed convey the feelings and emotions of Emily's character which are primarily confusion and most importantly fear, which will change the tempo of the introduction.(WT)
The main prop for our alternate storyline was the photos which had two uses. Most were of happy couples, these ones would be stuck on the wall and represented the killers victims as the smiles represented that he thought the had made them happy by killing them and reuniting them. While the other photos would be of sad couples these we would cut in half and place on the table these would represent his next targets as the fact that they are in half represents the couples separation and the faciel expression reflect how the killer thinks they are feeling.(WT)
The newspaper clippings were placed on the table alongside the cut up photos, these were supposed to represent his insanity. There were also many key words and phrases shown which were showing what he thought of his victims which gives you some clues on why he does what he does. The scrambled appearance of the newspaper clipping was also specificity trying to show his delusion and troubled past, as one of the pictures was supposed to represent his family and his vague memories of the child he once was.(WT)
As the scene was based in the killers mind the representation of the killer in his own head was shown by black gloves, this was supposed to shrouded the killer in mystery and give some idea of how the killer sees himself which in this case is a smart professional killer, even though is coincides with the killer's outside appearance it contradicts his inner mentality which is represented as a psycho. We used the black gloves in two scenes, one shot of the table and a shot of one of the pictures being spliced together.(WT)
