The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) is important as our opening title sequence has to follow certain guidelines so that it will be suitable for our target audience. The BBFC is mainly used to age rate films in order to protect children from unsuitable and harmful content. It is also used to give information to consumers to help them to make a decision about buying or watching certain films. This independent scrutiny prior to the release of the film ensures the highest possible level of protection. (NL)
We decided to make our horror a certificate 15 as this is our target audience, this will give us a wide range of people that we can aim the film at, thereby increasing the profits made. The film will also appeal to this sort of audience so this seems a good audience to choose. (NL)
