Location Choice and Why
We need to film in a place that could give the impression of seclusion and a large woodland. In the end it came down to a choice between three locations, Robinswood hill, Coopers Edge and The Forest of Dean.
Coopers Edge was first considered as it was close and had an adequate woodland area for filming, it was also fairly secluded with a large open area around the forest therefore less noise would disturb the filming. In the end we decided against this location as even though it was fairly close location we felt we weren't as familiar with the surrounding area and would more likely get lost.
Our second choice was the Forest of Dean, we considered this location as it is the largest forest in our area and has a wide variety of landscapes that would be perfect for a spooky forest horror setting. In the end we decided against this location for several reasons, firstly it is a lot further away than the other places, secondly it's a hot spot for walkers and tourists making it very likely that we will be disturbed while filming and finally we don't know the area very well meaning it is likely we will get lost and struggle to find good spots to film.
Our third and final option was Robinswood hill, which we decided was the best place to film our introduction as it had sufficient tree density, was close and easily accessible therefore we all knew the area fairly well making it easier to make our way around, thereby reducing the chances of getting lost and reducing the time taken as we know the best spots for filming. one down point to this location is that its a hot spot for dog walking meaning we are likely to be disturbed while filming at some point.(W.T)
Back Story Locations
One of our main ideas for filming the back story of our Opening Title Sequence was the boiler room at school. We chose this location because it is dark and old with very little sound or natural light getting in, giving it an air of suspense. (NL)
The boiler room was supposed to represent the killers mind as this was the setting for our alternate storyline, the crumbling walls were supposed to represent his increasing insanity and deluded personality. this was are first and only choice for the alternate storyline setting as we felt it fit perfectly and quickly came to the conclusion we would find no better place to film.(WT)
