The list on the left shows the various film rating from general viewers of the films, indicating which horror films are considered the best. The ratings are out of ten and according to the viewers the best horror film is 'Ginger Snaps' (2000) closely followed by other films such as 'Halloween' (1978), 'Godzilla' (1998) and 'Alien'(1979).Other films include the 'The Shining' (1980) and 'Scream' (1996), the list suggests that the most popular horror films are based around gore as this is shown in 'Ginger Snaps' which is a werewolf flick, this is also relevant in the others at the top of the list with 'Halloween' (1978), 'Evil dead 2' (1978), 'Army of darkness' (1992) and 'Behind the mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon' (2006) which belongs to the sub-genre of slasher. All but one of top ten on this list include gore as their main feature of the film the exception being vampires kiss which involves Nicolas Cage as a vampire, there seems to be few paranormal films as the films that do not include physical gore horror are few and towards the bottom of the list, which implies that these are more frequent and better made and therefore more scary but can also be more difficult to get right. Our idea is not going to resemble the majority of popular films, which mainly consist of gore instead we are going for a physiological style as we feel that the slasher genre is over saturated and even though they seem to produce the higher quality films we believe if we were releasing a film we would get away with a slightly lower quality film as ours would be different.
