These pictures are taken from each of our four main videos we made during the course of the school year, they include our preliminary task, our Dragons Den video for evaluation question 3, our first horror attempt and our complete opening title sequence. (W.T)
Our Task
Our task was to create an opening title sequence using the horror genre. In order to do this we also had to create a production and distribution company logo, as well as research further into existing opening title sequences. We had to choose an audience to aim our OTS at, which is one of the most important parts of making a media product. Without an appropriate audience the film would flop. So we also conducted research into what type of horror was most popular at the time. After weeks of research an planning this s our finished opening title sequence, entitled Delirium:

Of course it took a lot of practise for us to make our final product. We produced several research videos into different camera shots and styles of filming. Our first preliminary task seems very basic compared to the final film. However it was a quintessential part of developing our skills in the filming and editing field. We still used some of the camera shots from the preliminary in our final, however we were more experimental with the editing of the OTS.

Preliminary Task:
Distribution and Production Company
An important part of making the opening titles to a film are the distribution and production companies. The distributor is the company that markets your product and puts it out to an audience, whereas the production company are the people who make the film. We were given the task of creating these as well, making them specific to our film. here are the results:

The distribution company is usually assoicated with global imagery. An exmple of this would be Universal Pictures, universal meaning the entire world. Therefore we came up with the idea of Regional Distributions, as it involves a large amount of the population. We also used the idea of a satellite flying around the Earth, which connotes that our distributor travels all over the world.

The production company is usually made for the film you are producing, therefore links with the overall theme. This is why we created 'Purgatory Films.' We chose this name because of the meaning behind purgatory, which is the spiritual world between life and death. This links nicely with our horror as both of our characters end up being killed. We also used the idea of a forest with lots of trees as our horror was based in a wood, which is where most of the action takes place.
